Basato sul chip Sabre ESS9018 (4 per canale), capace dei fatidici 24/192 e 32/384 su USB, il convertitore Gustard DAC-X12 sfoggia anche le uscite bilanciate.
Quello che non si vede, celato all’interno, è una cura particolare nella scelta dei componenti, compresa la sub card del controller USB di tipo XMOS e i programmatori logici di tipo CPLD.
Non manca il supporto al DSD, seppure in modalità DoP (non nativo, quindi) su ottico e coassiale, mentre la porta USB lo decodifica nativamente.
Come un sorriso, al centro del frontale si apre un dispaly per confermare all’utente il tipo di conversione in atto.
4 gli ingressi disponibili: USB, ottico, coassiale a AES/EBU. L’alimentazione separata per i due canali è una ulteriore raffinatezza.
